I got the baking bug at an early age, I think it all started with Mums homemade birthday cakes. I can still taste them now, layers of fluffy buttery sponge sandwiched with homemade raspberry jam, a sprinkling of sugar on top for a teatime treat or a dollop of royal icing for a special occasion. No frills, no fuss, just perfect!
The cakes I make today are indeed a lot fussier than Mums, but I love that, the creativity and the baking.
